  • About us

Effective 11 September 2026.

Our commitment

Pivotal Motion Education publishes professional education for physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, allied health professionals, health students, strength and conditioning coaches, fitness professionals and researchers.

Some of the people we write for have disability. Some of them work with people who have disability every day. We think an education site in this field has a particular obligation to be usable by everyone, and we are committed to making pivotalmotioneducation.physio as accessible as we reasonably can.

We are committed to meeting our obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), and to treating accessibility as ongoing work rather than a box we tick once.

The standard we work towards

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, are the reference standard for website accessibility. In April 2025 the Australian Human Rights Commission published its Guidelines on equal access to digital goods and services, which point to WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the benchmark for Australian websites. That is the benchmark we work towards.

We want to be straightforward with you about where we are. This website has not been through a formal accessibility audit. That means we are not in a position to claim that it conforms to WCAG at any level, and we are not going to claim it. What we can tell you is that Level AA is the standard we design and correct towards, that we intend to have the site independently assessed, and that we will update this page with the result when we do.

We would rather tell you honestly that we do not know than publish a conformance badge we cannot stand behind.

What we are doing

  • We aim to write in plain Australian English, using headings, short paragraphs and links that describe where they go.
  • We aim to give every meaningful image a text alternative.
  • We aim for text and background colour combinations that stay readable.
  • We fix barriers that are reported to us, and we prioritise the page you tell us you cannot use.

Known limitations

We know of the following areas where the site may not yet meet Level AA, and we are telling you about them rather than waiting to be asked.

  • The site has not been audited. There will be issues we have not found. Automated tools also miss a large share of real barriers, so an audit alone will not be the end of it.
  • We have a large archive. The site holds approximately 340 articles published over several years. Older articles are the most likely to have missing image descriptions, unclear heading order, colour contrast problems, or links that do not describe where they go. We are working through them.
  • Documents and downloads. Where we provide a document to download, it may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will provide the content in another format.
  • Video and audio. Where we publish video or audio, our intention is to provide captions and a transcript. If something you need is missing a transcript, ask us and we will produce one.
  • Third party code. Some of what loads on a page comes from third parties rather than from us, including our website analytics, the advertisements served by Google AdSense, and the privacy message Google shows to some visitors. We do not control the code those providers serve and we cannot guarantee its accessibility. If a third party element is blocking you, please tell us, because we can often change how or whether we use it.

Alternative formats

If you cannot access something on our site, we will get it to you another way. On request, and free of charge, we will provide:

  • an article as plain text or as a Word document,
  • a large print version of a page or document,
  • a text transcript of audio or video content where we hold one or can reasonably produce one,
  • content read out or explained over the phone or by email, where that is practical.

We will supply the material within 20 business days where it is reasonably practicable to do so. If something will take longer, we will tell you why and give you a date.

Telling us about a barrier, and getting help

If any part of this website is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us. You do not need to explain your disability, and you do not need to know the technical cause. A plain description of what you were trying to do and what went wrong is enough.

Please tell us, if you can:

  • the page address or the title of the article,
  • what you were trying to do,
  • what happened instead,
  • the browser, device or assistive technology you were using, if you know it.

What we will do: we will acknowledge your message within 5 business days and give you a substantive response within 20 business days. Where we can fix the problem, we will fix it and tell you when it is done. Where we cannot fix it quickly, we will tell you honestly why, give you a timeframe, and offer you the content in another format in the meantime.

We treat requests as a priority, not a complaint. Reporting a barrier to us is genuinely useful and it is the fastest way for something to get fixed.

Continuous improvement

Accessibility for us means:

  • fixing barriers as they are reported,
  • checking accessibility when we build new pages or add new content types,
  • reviewing this statement at least once a year and after any significant change to the website,
  • arranging an independent assessment, so that this page can eventually carry a tested conformance level instead of a commitment.

If you are not satisfied

If you raise an accessibility problem with us and you are not happy with how we handle it, you can escalate it through our Complaints Handling Policy.

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission, which handles complaints of disability discrimination under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). The Commission can be contacted at humanrights.gov.au or on 1300 656 419. Using our process first is not a precondition of doing that.
