About cookies
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies let a site remember things between pages and between visits, and they let services like analytics recognise a returning browser. Some are set by us, and some are set by the companies whose services we use. Similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, do much the same job, and where we say “cookies” on this page we mean all of them.
This policy explains which cookies pivotalmotioneducation.physio uses and what you can do about them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
This website is published by Pivotal Momentum Pty Ltd (ABN 84 640 834 235), in conjunction with Pivotal Motion Physiotherapy.
What we use today
We keep this short deliberately. This site is a library of educational articles, and it does not need much.
Strictly necessary cookies. Our website platform and our host set a small number of cookies that are needed for the site to work and to stay secure, for example to manage the contact form and to protect against abuse. They are not used for tracking or advertising.
Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the site: which articles are read, how people arrive, and where they give up. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a property identifier. They store a randomly generated identifier for your browser, not your name, and they last up to two years. We look at this information in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you.
We also share one Google Analytics measurement with the clinic website, pivotalmotion.physio, so that we can see how many readers go on to visit the clinic site. When you follow a link between the two sites, an identifier is carried in the link so the visit is counted once rather than twice.
Tag management. A Google Tag Manager container is installed on this site. Tag Manager is a way of managing other scripts. It is not an analytics tool in itself, and a container on its own does not set cookies. We use it to count clicks on affiliate links, which is reported to Google Analytics as a count of clicks per product, not as a record of who clicked.
Advertising cookies. This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google and other third party vendors, including DoubleClick and Google Marketing Platform, use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites. Through these cookies they may receive your IP address, the address of the page you are viewing, your device and browser type, and an advertising identifier. Google’s advertising cookies include cookies such as __gads, __gpi and IDE, and their durations are set by Google. You can opt out of personalised advertising using Google My Ad Center at https://myadcenter.google.com, or the third party vendor controls at https://www.aboutads.info.
Affiliate cookies. Some articles on this site contain Amazon affiliate links. If you click one, you leave this site and Amazon sets a cookie on your device, typically lasting 24 hours, so that a later purchase can be credited to us. That cookie is set by Amazon on Amazon’s website, not by us. We receive aggregate reports of clicks, orders and commission only, not your identity or your order. As an Amazon Associate, Pivotal Motion Education earns from qualifying purchases.
We do not use social media tracking cookies on this website.
Where this information goes
Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google AdSense involve disclosure to Google LLC in the United States, and may involve Google entities in other countries, including Ireland. Amazon affiliate links involve Amazon, which operates in Australia, the United States and other countries. Cross border disclosure is covered in more detail in our Privacy Policy.
Your choices
Browser controls. Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them, block them from particular sites, or block third party cookies entirely. The controls are usually under Settings, then Privacy. Private windows discard cookies when you close them.
Opting out of Google Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit by installing Google’s browser add on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Opting out of personalised advertising. Use Google My Ad Center at https://myadcenter.google.com, or the third party vendor controls at https://www.aboutads.info. You will still see advertisements, but they will not be based on your browsing.
What happens if you block cookies. Nothing important. You can read every article on this site with cookies blocked. Blocking analytics cookies simply means your visit is not counted in our reporting, and blocking advertising cookies means any advertisements you see are not personalised.
Consent message for visitors in Europe, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google shows you a privacy message on our behalf, asking for your choice about advertising cookies. It is provided through Google’s privacy and messaging tools, operated by Google LLC and Google Ireland Limited, and it passes your choice to Google’s advertising services. You can change your choice at any time using the “Privacy preferences” link in the footer of every page. That message covers advertising. It does not currently control our analytics cookies, which you can block using your browser settings or Google’s opt out add on described above.
Visitors in some US states. If you visit from a US state with its own privacy law, Google may show you a message that lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for advertising.
Third party services
The companies whose services we use set their own cookies under their own privacy terms. Google’s practices are described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies, and Amazon’s at https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202056900. We do not control what these companies do with the information they collect.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, and we review it at least once a year. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed.
