Pivotal Motion Education is published by Pivotal Momentum Pty Ltd (ABN 84 640 834 235), in conjunction with Pivotal Motion Physiotherapy, the Brisbane based physiotherapy practice that runs pivotalmotion.physio. This page explains how we use affiliate links on this site, which programs we participate in, and how we choose the products we recommend.
We have written this disclosure to be clear, obvious and upfront, in line with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s guidance on influencer and affiliate marketing, the Australian Consumer Law (sections 18 and 29), the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement, and, for our US readers, the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR section 255).
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a tagged web address. When you click one and then buy a product on the destination site, the retailer pays the referring publisher a small commission. The price you pay does not change. You are not charged extra for clicking through one of our links instead of going to the retailer directly.
We use affiliate links on Pivotal Motion Education to help fund the cost of researching, writing and publishing the educational content on this site. They are one of the ways the site supports itself. They are not the reason we recommend a product.
Which programs we participate in
We currently participate in the Amazon Associates Program in three regions:
- Australia (amazon.com.au)
- United States (amazon.com)
- United Kingdom (amazon.co.uk)
At present, the Amazon links on this site point to Amazon Australia (amazon.com.au). We hold Associates accounts in the United States and the United Kingdom as well, and we intend to enable Amazon OneLink, which redirects each visitor to their local Amazon storefront so that prices, availability and shipping match where they live. That is not switched on yet. Until it is, a reader outside Australia who clicks an Amazon link here will arrive at the Australian store.
As an Amazon Associate, Pivotal Motion Education earns from qualifying purchases. This is the wording the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement requires us to display.
If we add other affiliate programs in future, for example a physiotherapy equipment retailer, we will update this page to name them. We do not currently participate in any other affiliate program.
What earns us a commission
A commission is paid to us only when all of the following happen:
- You click an affiliate link on a Pivotal Motion Education page.
- You complete an eligible purchase on the destination retailer’s site, inside that retailer’s tracking window (typically 24 hours for Amazon).
- The product you buy is one Amazon’s program treats as commission eligible at the time of purchase. Some product categories are excluded by Amazon and earn no commission regardless.
We do not receive any payment for clicks alone. We do not receive any payment if you abandon the cart. We do not see what you bought as an individual. We only see aggregate reports from each Amazon region showing total qualifying purchases.
How we choose what to recommend
We only link to products our physiotherapists would genuinely suggest to a patient with the relevant condition. Our editorial process:
- A clinician on the Pivotal Motion team identifies the product category that fits the post (for example, a foam roller for a calf-strain article).
- We shortlist candidates against clinical suitability, build quality and Australian availability.
- We pick the one we would recommend to a patient walking into the clinic, not the one with the highest commission rate.
If a product no longer meets that bar, we change the recommendation, regardless of whether the replacement earns less commission. The affiliate relationship does not change our clinical opinion.
How affiliate links are marked
Every affiliate link on this site carries the rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute, in line with Google’s link-attribute guidance. This is a behind the scenes signal to search engines that the link is a commercial relationship and should not pass ranking weight.
In addition, every post that contains affiliate links carries a visible disclosure block above the first paragraph, naming the Amazon Associates relationship before you read any product recommendation.
If you ever read a recommendation on Pivotal Motion Education and are not sure whether it is an affiliate link, you can either hover over the link to see the destination URL, or check the post for the disclosure box at the top.
What this disclosure does NOT cover
- General clinical advice. Content on this site is educational, not personal medical advice. See the disclaimer on each post and on the About page.
- Cookies and tracking. How we use cookies, third party analytics and advertising tags is covered in our Privacy Policy.
- Sponsored posts or paid partnerships. We do not currently publish sponsored posts or paid partnerships. If that ever changes, those posts will be clearly labelled as sponsored, separately from affiliate disclosure.
