About this disclaimer
Pivotal Motion Education is published by Pivotal Momentum Pty Ltd (ABN 84 640 834 235), in conjunction with Pivotal Motion Physiotherapy. This disclaimer applies to everything we publish on pivotalmotioneducation.physio, including articles, guides, images, videos, downloadable resources, newsletters and any other material we make available through this site.
Please read it before you rely on anything here. By using this site you accept the terms set out below.
Everything on this site is educational
Our content is published for education and general information. It is written to help health professionals, students and interested readers understand injury, movement, rehabilitation and exercise science. It is written for a general readership, not for you as an individual and not for any individual patient.
We do not know your medical history, your current condition, your medications, your imaging, your comorbidities or your goals. Nothing published here has been prepared with any of that in mind.
This is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment
Nothing on this site is personal medical advice. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prescription, a treatment plan or a direction to treat. Reading this site does not create a practitioner and patient relationship between you and Pivotal Motion Education, its director or its authors.
If you have symptoms, pain, an injury or a health concern, see a qualified health professional who can assess you in person. Do not delay seeking care, and do not stop or change treatment you are already receiving, because of something you read here.
If you are a health professional
Most of our readers are practitioners: physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, other allied health professionals, students, and strength and conditioning coaches. This part is for you.
Our content is a professional education resource. It is not clinical direction, and it is not a protocol you can apply unmodified to a patient.
- Clinical responsibility remains entirely yours. If you apply anything from this site to a patient or a client, you are responsible for that decision and for its consequences.
- Your own assessment is not optional. Published content cannot substitute for your subjective and objective examination, your clinical reasoning, your screening for red flags, or your ongoing reassessment of the person in front of you.
- Scope of practice is yours to police. Only you know what your registration, your training, your supervision arrangements and your workplace permit you to do. Content on this site does not extend your scope of practice, and the fact that we have written about something does not mean you are qualified or permitted to do it.
- Professional judgement is required. Evidence is general and patients are specific. Where our content and your clinical judgement disagree about a real patient, your judgement governs.
- Check it yourself. Verify anything clinically significant against current primary literature, your professional association’s guidance, your regulator’s standards and your employer’s policies before you act on it.
- Insurance and indemnity. Your professional indemnity arrangements cover your practice. They are not affected by, and do not extend to, us.
- Outside Australia. Our content is written from an Australian practice context. Registration requirements, scope of practice and supervision rules differ between countries and between professions. If you practise outside Australia, check your own regulator.
Individual outcomes vary
Injury, recovery and rehabilitation are individual. Two people with what looks like the same problem can respond very differently to the same approach.
We make no promise, guarantee or representation about any outcome, recovery time, level of improvement, return to sport or return to work. We do not claim that any approach described on this site is superior to any other.
Section 133 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law prohibits the use of testimonials about clinical care in advertising a regulated health service. We will not publish them.
In an emergency
This site is not for emergencies. If you or someone else is experiencing a medical emergency, call 000 immediately, or attend your nearest emergency department.
Do not use this site, our contact form or our email addresses to seek urgent help. We do not monitor them continuously and we cannot respond to urgent clinical situations.
Seek immediate care for chest pain, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness or severe bleeding. Seek it too for signs of stroke, a suspected fracture or dislocation, loss of bladder or bowel control, progressive weakness or numbness, or any sudden or severe symptom that worries you.
Exercise and rehabilitation content: please take care
Some of our content describes exercises, movements, loading strategies and rehabilitation techniques. Physical activity carries risk, including the risk of injury or of aggravating an existing condition.
Before starting or changing any exercise program, get clearance from a qualified health professional. That matters particularly if you have an existing injury or medical condition, are pregnant or postnatal, are returning from surgery, or have not been active recently.
Stop immediately and seek advice if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath or any symptom that concerns you.
Content currency
Clinical evidence changes. Content is accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time it is published, and we review it periodically. We do not guarantee that any given article reflects the most current evidence, guideline or regulatory position on the day you read it.
Check the publication or update date on each article, and treat older material accordingly.
Third party content and links
We link to external websites, research, products and resources. Those links are provided for convenience and further reading. We do not control that content, we do not endorse everything on a site we link to, and we are not responsible for its accuracy, its safety or its availability.
Where a link is a commercial or affiliate link, it is disclosed on the page it appears on.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or under any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified. Where the law does allow us to limit our liability, our liability is limited to the extent the law permits.
